FSSC 22000

FSSC 22000 is an internationally recognized certification scheme for food safety management systems, approved by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and based on the ISO 22000 standard.
The FSSC 22000 certification is suitable for a wide range of organizations in the food industry, including producers of food, feed, food packaging materials, dietary supplements, and food transport and storage service providers.
What’s New in Version 6 (applicable from April 1, 2024)
Version 6 of the FSSC 22000 certification scheme introduces the following changes:
- Incorporation of ISO 22003-1:2022 requirements
- Strengthened requirements for food safety and quality culture
- Increased focus on food defense
- Equipment management
- Prevention of Food Loss and Waste
Key Requirements of FSSC 22000
- ISO 22000 – defines the food safety management system, based on HACCP principles and the PDCA cycle.
- PRP programs – define sector-specific prerequisite programs, such as ISO/TS 22002-1, ensuring hygienic and operational conditions.
- FSSC Additional Requirements – define additional requirements, based on feedbacks from GFSI, and which strengthen the FSMS e.g., management of services and materials, product labeling, food fraud prevention, and food safety culture.
